Skills, Attributes & Qualities

MEDIATOR

One skill that I bring to the table and to the service of my community is that of certified mediator. I am also counsellor of many years standing and wide experience, having mediated disagreements and challenging relationship in many spheres. This means I can support my volunteer case load with confidence, empathy and bring clarity to a situation, such as a Neighbour Dispute.

PUBLIC SERVICE ETHICS
I am a FCCA qualified accountant of long and good standing, who teaches ethics to accountants, including those who hold Local Government to account, such as the National Audit Office. This includes teaching the Nolan Principles towards public life which are Selflessness; Integrity; Accountability; Objectivity; Openness; Honesty; Leadership. This means I know what to expect from your local authorities when communicating with them.

FINANCIAL SCRUTINY

Being an accountant who trains accountants and auditors, both private and public sector, to the highest level, means that I am skilled at scrutinising financial transactions, data and negotiations. This means I can understand the numbers, sceptically question, and communicate the answers transparently to our community.

COMMUNICATOR
Having been both a Managing Director and Finance Director, I am capable of being tenacious and persistent at the senior level. This means I can represent the views of our community with confidence.

COMMUNITY FOCUS

I have volunteered in support of our community for many years with the Samaritans, homeless, in prisons, in addiction centres and in schools. I currently volunteer helping those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorders recover, and also a Social Enterprise that teaches the community how to support themselves. This means I can demonstrate that I am motivated to represent my community, for their benefit and development.
